The African ICM Drive

October 5, 2022

While countries in the West are curbing their fossil fuel operations, the African region is offering major oil firms the opportunity to develop new, low-carbon oil operations in untapped areas.

The African ICM Drive

Several African countries have been gradually boosting their oil and gas output over the last year as demand for fossil fuels continues to rise. While countries in the West are curbing their fossil fuel operations, the African region is offering major oil firms the opportunity to develop new, low-carbon oil operations in untapped areas.

Capex project activity is on the rise in multiple areas with super EPC, FLNG, and refinery projects also increasing due to the heightened demand for alternative fuel sources. Cosasco has positioned itself as a strong supporter of major EPC/SURF projects through diversified supply chains, improved processes, and order fulfillment resources.

The majority of EPC Capex projects are still being executed by external, multi-national EPC’s. As nations become more self-reliant and large EPC projects begin to be executed locally, Cosasco has sought to partner with multiple local operations to further support their ability to provide the right products and practical expertise.

Local African Content

Local content has been a strong motivator in Cosasco’s most recent African drive. It has become clear that the continent’s best educated, most ambitious, and highly competitive generation is leading local businesses to success and is becoming an independent source of opportunity. Cosasco is identifying the strongest representatives and working closely with them to ensure comprehensive training and support are available to them, ensuring success now and in the future.

Opex ICM Expenditure

Opex spend focus budgets are often constricted, so Cosasco has improved supply chain processes to ensure continued competitive pricing for existing corrosion monitoring systems. Cosasco is partnering locally to guarantee local content supports the growth of local businesses and confirms products and support can be easily secured by operators in time for critical operations. Corrosion monitoring (Opex) retrieval services and site reviews are crucial for Cosasco and affiliated representatives to review and maintain customer systems. To continue providing safe operations and asset life extension, Cosasco is helping educate others on best practices and technologies.

The Cosasco Representative Network

Cosasco continues to focus on reviews of existing product representative networks. One such move is leveraging on existing key performers JST, a lifelong partner of Cosasco. JST brings extensive Cosasco product awareness and knowledge, helping benefit customers. Initially only covering the South African territory, JST now has extended their reach to a further 10+ territories in the South and South-Easy African continent, where significant discoveries in Madagascar and Mozambique are creating significant opportunities. JST’s experience is a game-changer in terms of support for the lower region of Africa.

In Nigeria, close Cosasco partner Manz Incorporated continues to deliver year after year. With the current Capex climate in Nigeria and the hundreds of serviceable assets, Cosasco’s experienced partners are well placed to expand their business with increased intensity.

Cosasco is also identifying strong representatives in Ghana, Congo, EG, Côte d’lvoire, Cameroon, and surrounding territories. Increasing the support to our existing long-term product representatives has been a pivotal and incredible positive step to helping secure and support Oil and Gas operators in these regions.

Successful Corrosion Monitoring in Africa

Having strategically placed partners such as JST, Manz, and Corrosion Masters ensures that Cosasco has a true representation of products, vision, and ethos. This representation continues to guarantee that optimum, fit-for-purpose corrosion monitoring systems are being procured and installed successfully around the world.
