Quicksand Wireless Transmitter Data Sheet
Cosasco® Wireless Best Practices Guide
The model MWT-3905-QS Quicksand Wireless (QWT) Transmitter is based on RCS’s Microcor® high resolution
corrosion measurement technology, the industries most widely used and only technology capable of operating in any process environment. The QWT rapidly detects erosion rates at speeds approaching real-time. The 2.4 GHz self-organizing wireless network delivers exceptional data reliability and network stability through its high security communication. The wireless link now adds simplicity, flexibility, and exceptional economy of installation to new or existing installations.
The MWT-3905-QS can be supplied as part of a complete corrosion/erosion management system comprising access fittings, probes, Microcor Wireless Transmitters (MWT), Cosasco Wireless Extenders (WE), gateway, and corrosion management and process interface software. Alternatively, the QWT can be added seamlessly to an Emerson Smart Wireless Network or via direct input from the gateway through Modbus Interface to virtually any Process Automation System.
QWT’s are quickly and easily installed without the time and expense required for wiring. Once installed metal loss and computed erosion rate is read from the Gateway directly into your DCS system, an RCS ICMS3-Amulet Corrosion Management System, or a Microcor Tools software package for smaller scale systems. QWT’s are easily configured using a direct connection to a PC or laptop in a safe area, or through RCS’s Checkmate DL-W in hazardous locations.

The Quicksand Wireless Transmitter covers a wide range of applications either operating independently with other QWT's/MWT's or as part of Emerson's Smart Wireless Network.
The QWT operates in any process environment including:
- Oil & Gas: including refineries, gas plants, offshore platforms, and FPSOs
- Chemical: Chemical and Petrochemical Plants
- Water Systems: Water and Wastewater Plants
The QWT has the same exceptional benefits as the wired Quicksand Transmitter including:
- High resolution, sensitivity, and accuracy
- Detects Erosion rates in real-time
- Rated for Hazardous Locations
- Operation in almost any environment
- Erosion rate measurement in any process flow, including conductive and non-conductive fluids
- Real-time, continuous, online erosion data
- Direct metal loss and erosion rate data flow into DCS or SCADA
The QWT is further enhanced with wireless benefits:
- Low Cost installation - no wires or wiring required
- Monitor in previously inaccessible areas due to technical or physical barriers – Improve efficiency
- Integrate seamlessly with Emerson’s Smart Wireless process control networks
