Introducing the New Model ECM™ Environmental Condition Monitor For Rapid Detection of Corrosive Conditions, Including Humidity, Temperature, & Differential Pressure

Model ECM

Environmental Condition Monitor

Environmental Condition Monitor

Santa Fe Springs, CA, August 17, 2005 - Rohrback Cosasco Systems is pleased to introduce the Model ECM™ Environmental Condition Monitor for rapid detection of corrosive conditions, including humidity, temperature, & differential pressure.

The ECM™ is a corrosion monitoring system designed to provide constant surveillance of the atmospheric environment. It allows rapid detection of deterioration of the environment that could result in damage to expensive equipment. Early detection of corrosive conditions will permit corrective action to be taken before substantial damage occurs to sensitive computers, instrumentation systems or other highly sensitive equipment. The system measures humidity, temperature, and the corrosive attack on two replaceable thin-film sensors. The corrosion rate is shown by indicator lights that correspond to the ISA classification of environments (G1 through GX) for copper and silver. Analog and/or digital outputs of corrosion, humidity and temperature information provides remote alarming, display and recording. The information may also be stored in the on-board datalogger, and accessed via PC software. The system can also be used as a high-sensitivity corrosion monitor for special applications. The ECM is particularly useful for environmental monitoring applications in clean rooms, control rooms, refineries, chemical plants, museums, laboratories and pulp & paper plants.

Model Checkmate

Corrosometer® Portable Instrument

Santa Fe Springs, CA, May 31, 2005 - Rohrback Cosasco Systems is pleased to introduce the Checkmate™ Corrosometer® Portable Instrument. The Checkmate is the newest addition to the industry-standard Corrosometer Product Line. Using "state of the art" surface mount integrated cicuits, the sophisticated electronics provides higher resolution and measurement accuracy of Corrosometer (Electrical Resistance) corrosion probes. With a resolution of 0.01% of span, and a reading time of just 30 seconds on any Corrosometer probe, the Checkmate sets a new benchmark in performance. Readings may be taken from up to 204 separate probes, stored, and then downloaded directly to a PC. The basic Checkmate instrument is provided with simple PC software producing CSV ASCII data files, and the necessary batteries and interconnection cables. The instrument is well suited to operate in harsh field environments and certified for use in Class I, Zone 1 (Hazardous Locations).

QuicksandErosion Detection System

Quicksand™

Erosion Detection System

Santa Fe Springs, CA, February 7, 2005 - Rohrback Cosasco Systems is pleased to introduce the
Quicksand ™ Erosion Detection System.

In Oil and Gas Producing Systems sand production gives problems for several reasons.

1. It can create blockages in pipework and vessels.

2. It provides a large surface area that absorbs inhibitors.

3. It can cause high erosion and erosion/corrosion problems.

Acoustic methods can be useful for sand detection, where the flow can be reduced to prevent the sand production, and where background noise is not a problem. However, where sand production cannot be eliminated, these methods are not effective since they cannot measure the resultant erosion or erosion/corrosion. This is where the new RCS High Sensitivity Quicksand™ probes and transmitters provide the answer. This system is based on the new extremely successful Microcor® Technology, and the Quicksand system provides an unparalleled combination of high sensitivity, rapid response and extended probe life which makes it ideally suited for this application. This Quicksand system is ideally installed as an on-line system, but is also available with a datalogger option.

Model E-9020 Corrater® Digital Transmitter for Corrosion Rate Monitoring and Pitting Tendency in Water Systems

Model E-9020

Corrater® Digital Transmitter

Santa Fe Springs, CA, December 6, 2004 - RohrbackCosasco Systems is pleased to introduce the Model E-9020 Corrater® Digital Transmitter for monitoring corrosion rate and pitting tendency in water systems. The rugged construction of the UL/CSA/ATEX certified explosion-proof transmitter makes it ideal for operation in electrically hazardous area field locations. The Model E-9020 operates on a multi-drop 4-wire power and communication bus on cable lengths up to 4000 ft (1200 metres) for economic installation. The E-9020 Transmitter, with its advanced solution resistance compensation, is the latest addition to the Corrater line of products and produces the highest accuracy and the widest range of operation of any of the Corrater instruments. Software is available for direct PC connection, or a Power/ Modbus interface module for direct connection to a DCS, SCADA or PLC. Alternate operational modes include galvanic measurements, dissolved gas monitor for low levels of oxygen, potential monitoring, and potential and current noise measurements.

Environmental protection and
cost savings with Automated
Corrosion Monitoring

Corrosion is the leading cause of production and process equipment, and piping and storage failure worldwide, where industries of many types struggle with corrosion prevention, detection, maintenance and control on a daily basis. The corrosion of pipelines, tanks, valves and other equipment utilized in the oil and gas, petrochemical, water treatment, chemical processing, public utilities, pulp and paper, and pharmaceuticals industries represents one of the major environmental challenges in the world today. Field Experience With a New High Resolution Programmable Downhole Corrosion Monitoring Tool

Details of a new tool are presented for monitoring real time corrosion in downhole situations. This battery-powered data logging systems generates continuous corrosion history, which is transfered to a PC for analysis.
A case study of this Downhole Corrosion Monitoring System (DCMS) is described. The tool is set at any required well depth, and is sensitive enough to show the period of inhibitor film persistency, effectiveness of different treatment chemical and application methods, enabling a realistic economic assessment to be made.
