The Model 4001L CORROSOMETER® transmitter and receiver system provides a single channel stand-alone system. The system incorporates the Model 4020LT twowire transmitter and the Model 4021L receiver unit. The receiver unit is powered by 115 VAC or 230 VAC and provides the 24 VDC supply for powering the transmitter’s 4-20 mA loop. In addition, the receiver processes the 4-20 mA signal to provide a direct digital readout of the cumulative metal loss and the CORROSOMETER® probe corrosion rate based on the last 48-hour monitoring period. The Model 4020LT CORROSOMETER® transmitter is mounted close to the CORROSOMETER® probe. The transmitter has an integral 5-foot probe connection lead. Only a single twisted pair cable is required to connect the transmitter back to the receiver unit. The transmitter is approved intrinsically safe when used with the appropriate safety barrier between the transmitter and receiver in the safe area, or non-incendive for use in Division 2, Zone 2, without a safety barrier. The 4001L system is particularly useful where a process monitoring computer is not available or accessible. The system is ideally suited for plants where the CORROSOMETER® probes are separated by large distances. Transmitter to receiver distances up to 10,000 ft. with safety barriers are possible. Alternatively, the transmitter/receiver combination may be used in process computer based systems to provide additional indication of metal loss and corrosion rate independent of the computer. The letter “L” used in conjunction with this system indicates a linear 4-20 mA signal.
